The Role of Geographical Indications in Advancing Namibia's Trade Competitiveness in view of the AFCFTA

author

My dissertation explores the impact of Geographical Indications (GIs) on Namibia’s trade competitiveness within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Through a comparative analysis of Namibia’s GI protection framework with international best practices, the research highlights the potential for GIs to enhance trade opportunities and stimulate economic growth. The findings provide valuable insights into how strengthening the GI system can contribute to Namibia’s economic development, offering practical recommendations to policymakers and stakeholders seeking to maximize the benefits of intellectual property rights in the context of regional trade agreements.
