The Reinventory Company T/A Spareable
Chief Technology Officer
November 2018 - December 2021
We've built Spareable, whose mission is to empower communities with technology to end hunger. The company has created a product and service that combats food poverty at its core.
By interfacing directly with foodbanks, our cloud based portal allows them to manage and even take control of supply of their stock requirements through real-time inventory monitoring whilst giving their donors, supporters, volunteers and the public insight into the situation and impact created.
The mobile app gives all well-wishers an easy way to spare any money, spare excess food or spare their free time to help people in crisis.
Key achievements:
- Launched a beta version of mobile app within 6 months of the concept, idea, and planning phase.
- Recognized as a Top 100 Change Maker for 2020 by The Big Issue magazine, an award-winning publication that is UK’s number one street newspaper.
- Received investment from Bethnal Green Ventures, one of Europe’s leading early-stage Tech for Good VC’s.
- Facilitated the provision of over 50,000 meals to vulnerable people experiencing food poverty in the UK from purchases by donors via the app.
- Delivered 10,000 Kilograms more food to foodbanks than what was donated thanks to our algorithm finding the best prices, clearance sales and volume discounts made possible by the aggregation of individual purchases.
Technologies: Java (Spring framework/Spring boot), MySQL, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Flutter, GitHub, Metabase
